Skinjo at the Stile: A Way Over for Walkers

Skinjo pauses atop a wooden stile crossing a grey stone wall, looking back at sheep grazing in the enclosed field. Low morning side light catches the worn steps and oxidized-red jacket; the footpath continues into the next field.
Skinjo pauses atop a wooden stile crossing a grey stone wall, looking back at sheep grazing in the enclosed field. Low morning side light catches the worn steps and oxidized-red jacket; the footpath continues into the next field.

Morning light catches the stone wall edge by edge. Skinjo reaches the wooden stile, sets a boot on the first step, then climbs to the top.

A pause, a hand on the upright, a look back: the sheep are still grazing. Not one appears troubled by this difference in access.

The stile lets a walker cross without opening the boundary to livestock. A few steps do the work of a gate that never needs shutting.

Skinjo steps down into the next field and walks on. Behind, the wall keeps its sheep; ahead, the footpath keeps going.
